Michigan Dusk, Saxophone Duet
Michigan Dusk, Saxophone Duet
Michigan Dusk was written to explore and celebrate some of my most fond memories of Michigan. The piece is filled with samples and field recordings of some of my favorite Michigan sounds. Trains, cicadas, birds, a summer rainstorm – all create a nostalgic atmosphere that carries the listener from early morning to late dusk. The performers will weave in and out of, and meld with this texture. Along with the performers, each audience member will play an important role in the performance by playing any one of four accompanying video tracks on their mobile device. Audience members should have “do not disturb” turned on, their brightness turned all the way up, and adjust the volume up or down as needed. Scan any one of four below QR codes, but try to choose a different one than your neighbor. Pause the video at the very start, and wait for a cue from the performers to press play.
